Protagoras the Sophist

Protagoras the Sophist was known as the adversary of Socrates.

He was famous for saying that "man is the measure of all things."

He claimed he could prove all propositions both true and false.

His writings are largely lost to us because Plato and Socrates were violently opposed to his views, but from what we know of him, he was the first radical skeptic.

He also was a very fine rhetorician, and taught the fine art of persuasive speaking to thousands of students in Athens, many of whom later served in government or worked in the law courts.
